Planning Commission The Planning Commission is responsible for advising the Village Council with regard to the proper development of the Village of Dexter. They are also responsible for the Capital Improvement Plan. The Planning Commission has nine members appointed by the Village Council upon the recommendation of the Village President. The Planning Commission's regular meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Senior Center. Please check the Reference Desk for meeting agendas and minutes.
The Zoning Board of Appeals hears appeals from the Zoning Ordinance. Their appointments are recommended by the Village President and approved by the Council, and they have five members and two alternates. The Zoning Board of Appeals meets as needed. Please check the Reference Desk for more information. Eric Bombery Parks & Recreation Commission The Parks & Recreation Commission oversees the planning and development of the Village's parks. They are appointed by the Village Council as an advisory board. The Parks & Recreation Commission's regular meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Village Offices. Tree Board The Tree Board works with the Community Development Manager to make recommendations regarding the Village's tree programs. John Coy Downtown Development Authority The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is responsible for economic development and related projects within the designated downtown district. The DDA is authorized by statute and the Village Council to capture property taxes within its district for use on these projects. Appointed by Council, they elect their own chair, vice-chair, secretary, and treasurer. The Village President also serves on the DDA, and he is assisted by the Assistant Village Manager. Rich Bellas

Culture & Heritage Committee The Arts, Culture & Heritage Committee was established by Council in 2008. They advise the Village Council on the development of arts, culture and heritage, promote and publicize projects, serve as advocates, and encourage public awareness, networking and collaberations.
